José Medina Cachero, President of Williams & Humbert, received Jerezanísimo’s ‘Good Business Practice’ award on 14th December 2007. The award has been presented by Radio Jerez since 1970 and recognizes the impeccable professional career of the founder of the group of companies owned by the Medina family.
His professional experience in the winery sector, especially in foreign markets, lead him to set up his own winery in the 60s, José Medina & Cía. Two years later his brothers Ángel, Nicolás and Jesús joined him at the company. The business grew through the acquisition of various companies until its merger with the Dutch multinational Royal Ahold in 1979. The company later took over the ownership of Williams & Humbert which, from 2005, became part of the Medina family group.
In his speech, José Medina expressed his wish to share the award with his brothers, with those that have formed part and still form part of the “crew” and, above all, with his wife, his greatest support in life.
There was a large audience present at the awards ceremony, which took place in the Villamarta Theatre. It was clear that people did not want to miss out on the opportunity to show their support to the prize winners.
