The Bay of Cadiz was the location, on the 28th July, of a fantastic fourth edition of the Estero Blanco Regatta, organized by the Williams & Humbert Bodegas in collaboration with the Royal Nautical Club of El Puerto de Santa María. The event, participated by a total of 25 vessels, has become an unmissable date in the summer season.

The weather conditions allowed a windward - leeward race of 8 nautical miles with a weak wind from the South-East. The strong rivalry between the two teams was the overriding theme, and the final section proved complicated until the judges were able to resolve two protests that affected the top section of the table. Following long discussions, Viking V triumphed in the general category, followed by Chaitán II belonging to Alberto San Román and Charlies VI belonging to Emilio Bernal, who were second and third respectively.


The standings in each class were as follows:

Class 1: Viking V belonging to Domingo Galán, Chaitán belonging to Aujeca SL and Lula belonging to Yolanda Garzón.
Class 2: Emilio Bernal Charlies VI, Paloalto belonging to Fernando Millán Rodríguez and Whaly belonging to Ignacio Pérez de Guzmán.
Class 3: Raider belonging to Virgilio Pulido, Volkswagen Bahía Movil belonging to Ignacio Toro and Estero Blanco belonging to Santiago Villagrán.
Class 4 (Solos and Pairs): Rodriser belonging to Fernando González
Class 5 (No Spi): Denébola belonging to the Spanish Navy.


On arriving at port the participants enjoyed a seafood lunch washed down with the Williams & Humbert white wine which gives its name to the event. Afterwards the awards ceremony took place, as well as a raffle of products from the bodegas. The sponsors also presented the guests with cocktails based around their ‘Dos Maderas 5+3’ rum.
